Booking
To be considered for a booking at the Black Cat-
All booking is done on line. Please email your info and weblink where we can hear your music. We will get back to you! We book primarily original music. If you do a few covers, no problem, but we do not book cover or top 40 bands. We make exceptions for tribute bands if you kick ass.
Here’s the deal on the shows.
All band members and patrons must be 21 or over with valid ID. Anyone without an ID who looks under 30 will be asked to leave- no exceptions. Please do not waste both of our time by booking a show you cannot play.
Bands make 15% of the bar during the music. If there is more than one band, all will split the proceeds equally. Each band may put out a tip jar during their set, the proceeds of which belongs to that band. There is no cover to get in. Your help in promoting your show goes a long way towards making you more money!! Flyers may be dropped off at the bar or sent to POB 755, Penngrove CA 94951
Music goes from 10pm-1am on Fridays and Saturdays. On all other days the start time is negotiable, but music must be done by 11pm. Bands may decide the lineup, or we can decide who plays when.
We have a full PA with 12 channel board, flown mains, separate power amps for mains and monitor,2 mics, cords and stands; if you need more mics you should bring them. There are ¼” inputs on the board for acoustic guitars, etc.
Each band will be asked to sign a contract that states they have read and understand our volume policy.
The volume policy is simple. If the bartender asks you to turn down, you need to turn down. This is a small room. It isn’t necessary to play really quietly, but if the bartenders cannot hear drink orders, or if it’s so loud the sheriff shows up, it’s too loud. Usually if a band can play with some dynamics, it’s OK. You can also turn your amps to face you instead of out. We aren’t nazis about it, but if the bartender asks, you must comply, or you will be shut down.
